Welcome to the online home of Rhode Island Guild of Home Teachers (RIGHT)!
RIGHT began in the late 1980’s as a group of moms planning field trips and activities for their children. Today we have grown into a tri-state non-profit support group with 300+ member families, four regional chapters, a member-only monthly digital newsletter, two Facebook groups, and various other social media accounts.
Our size and communication methods have changed through the decades, but our core mission remains the same:
- provide educational and social events for homeschooled students;
- encourage homeschooling parents;
- and promote homeschooling as a positive educational choice.
At the heart of RIGHT, we are still a group of moms serving our homeschool community as we care for our homes and teach our children.
Are you new to homeschooling?
Homeschool journeys begin in different places, so if you are starting with a preschooler, pulling a high school student out of public school, or are somewhere in between, New to Homeschooling is the place to start. This series covers your Letter of Intent (LOI), choosing curriculum, removing your child from public school, and much more. We wrote our New to Homeschooling series just for you!
Are you new to Rhode Island?
Relocating a family is stressful. Hopefully, RI Guild of Home Teachers can help relieve some of the stress of relocating your homeschool to Rhode Island.
As you probably know, the right to homeschool is governed by state laws. Rhode Island homeschool related laws are fairly basic. However, navigating the homeschool policy of individual school districts can be confusing. That’s why we wrote Homeschooling in RI. This article contains links to the actual RI laws, tells what to include in your LOI, and provides links to some district homeschool policies.
Join the RIGHT Community!
While it is possible to homeschool alone, it’s a lot more fun to homeschool with friends. We provide three methods for our members to connect within the RI homeschool community: public events, chapter events, and Facebook groups. Visit our RIGHT Community page to learn more about each opportunity and become a member today!
